Age Verification Policy — JITPOS Platform

1. Introduction
AppSquire Consulting Ltd. ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to ensuring that cannabis products sold through the JITPOS Platform are only accessible to individuals of legal age. This Age Verification Policy outlines the measures we implement across all JITPOS platforms in compliance with the Cannabis Act (S.C. 2018, c. 16) and applicable provincial/territorial legislation.
2. Legal Age Requirements by Province/Territory

3. Online Storefront Verification
3.1 Age Gate
All visitors must confirm they meet the legal age requirement for their province/territory before accessing the Storefront. The age gate is presented upon first visit.
3.2 Account Registration
Date of birth is collected during account registration and validated against the minimum age for the customer's province/territory.
3.3 Checkout Verification
Age verification status is confirmed before an order can be completed.
3.4 Delivery Verification
The delivery recipient must present valid government-issued photo identification to the delivery person. If the recipient cannot produce valid ID or does not meet the age requirement, the delivery will not be completed and the order will be returned.
4. iPad POS (In-Store) Verification
4.1 Staff Responsibilities
Retail staff must verify the customer's age by examining valid government-issued photo identification before processing any sale.
4.2 Accepted Identification
The following forms of government-issued photo ID are accepted:
- Provincial or territorial driver's licence
- Canadian passport
- Provincial or territorial identification card
- Permanent resident card
- Canadian Armed Forces identification card
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status
- Other government-issued photo ID as permitted by the applicable provincial regulator
4.3 POS System Enforcement
The POS System requires staff to confirm that age verification has been performed before completing a transaction. The system records:
- That verification was performed (yes/no)
- The type of identification presented
- The staff member who performed the verification
4.4 Refusal of Sale
Staff must refuse the sale if:
- The customer cannot produce valid photo ID
- The ID appears to be expired, altered, or fraudulent
- The customer does not meet the minimum age requirement
- There is reasonable doubt about the authenticity of the ID
5. SaaS Platform Requirements
5.1 Tenant Obligations
Tenants using the JITPOS Platform are required to:
- Enable age verification at all customer touchpoints
- Train staff on age verification procedures
- Not disable or circumvent age verification features
- Maintain records of age verification as required by their provincial regulator
5.2 Platform Configuration
The Platform provides configurable age verification based on provincial requirements. Tenants must configure the correct minimum age for their operating jurisdiction.
6. Record Keeping
6.1 What We Record
- Timestamp of age verification
- Type of verification performed (online age gate, ID check at POS, delivery verification)
- Result (verified / refused)
- Staff identifier (for in-store and delivery)
6.2 What We Do Not Record
- Government ID numbers or images
- Full copies of identification documents
6.3 Retention
Age verification records are retained in accordance with our Data Retention Policy and applicable regulatory requirements.
7. Training and Compliance
7.1 Staff Training
We recommend that all retail staff receive training on:
- Legal age requirements in their jurisdiction
- How to examine identification documents
- How to identify potentially fraudulent documents
- How to refuse a sale professionally and safely
- Use of the POS System's age verification features
7.2 Compliance Monitoring
The Platform provides reporting tools to help Tenants monitor age verification compliance, including:
- Verification completion rates
- Refused sale logs
- Staff verification activity
8. Penalties for Non-Compliance
Failure to verify age is a serious regulatory violation. Consequences may include:
- Fines under provincial cannabis legislation
- Suspension or revocation of the retailer's cannabis licence
- Criminal charges under the Cannabis Act for selling to minors
- Suspension from the JITPOS Platform per our SaaS Acceptable Use Policy
